Our Sermon Archive
As a Church, we believe slowly walking through Scripture is an important discipline to help build mature Christians. So, we have accumulated over time an archive of sermons on various passages of Scripture for you to dive into. We are by no means the only church that does this, or the best church that does this. However, we think you can benefit from them. Enjoy!
Some helpful links
The Bible Project – This website has tons of video content to help you understand different books of the Bible, big picture ideas and how to see the way Scripture is interconnected.
CARM – This website stands for Christian Apologetics Research and Ministry. It’s goal is to help tackle difficult topics and questions that believers have. From, “What is Islam?” to “What is morality?” to “What is legalism?” you can find the discussion around a multitude of different topics.
Soniclight Commentary – Need help walking through a specific passage of Scripture? Dr. Tom Constable wrote verse by verse commentary on every book of the Bible and published them online. While some of the book PDFs in this link are long, he tackled many issues with very professional presentation. A free Bible commentary on every book is worth having in your bookmarks.
BlueLetterBible – this website is a great resource for word studies. Want to grow in seeing all the places where one word is used across scripture? You can do all sorts of original language searches without actually knowing Greek or Hebrew here.
We are called by Jesus to make disciples in Matthew 28:18-20. Below is a simple grid that we use from the Relational Discipleship Network to understand that maturing in Jesus begins with some simple needs and has the goal of us becoming spiritual parents. A spiritual parent is someone who has matured in Christ enough to want to influence and care for believers around them like a parent does for their child. The outside of the circle gives what someone in each phase needs in their life to grow.
Where are you at?
Your Bible is made up of many genres. A “genre” is simply a category to establish the way you approach any form of communication. You approach biblical history with expectations of stories and facts. You approach Biblical poetry with expectations of images and metaphors. How you understand different passages should come from the intent of the authors in the form of the communication God led them to use.
